I was out on the harbour early the morning crossing ‘The Heads’ from Camp Cove to Spring Cove. It was a beautiful morning with a light breeze, even swell and a mild chop – just enough to send a cool spray of salt water over the bow from time to time. The warming sun made it just the place to be!
Recently I’ve discovered a poem by T.S. Thomas called “the Bright Field’ which resonates with me.
Yes, its great to have plans and important to spend time reflecting on the past but there is no wasted time in stopping to enjoy the beauty of the present for a while ……….. I hope you enjoy The Bright Field’ by R.S.Thomas –
The Bright Field
I have seen the sun break through
to illuminate a small field
for a while, and gone my way
and forgotten it. But that was the pearl
of great price, the one field that had
the treasure in it. I realize now
that I must give all that I have
to possess it.
Life is not hurrying
on to a receding future, nor hankering after
an imagined past. It is the turning
aside like Moses to the miracle
of the lit bush, to a brightness
that seemed as transitory as your youth
once, but is the eternity that awaits you.
